Dr. Petra Anders

Ich bin wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl Literatur und Medien der Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg. Seit 2022 bin ich in der Jury des Grimme-Preises. Außerdem bin ich Gründungsmitglied und Redaktionsmitglied des Journals „Including Disability„, einer Open-Access-Online-Zeitschrift, die im April 2022 online gegangen ist, und berate Filmproduktionen gerne bezüglich der filmischen Darstellung von Behinderung (u.a. die Hellinger/Doll Filmproduktion GmbH).

Ich habe in Lüneburg Angewandte Kulturwissenschaften studiert und bei Prof. Dr. Sven Kramer an der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg promoviert. Meine Dissertation mit dem Titel „Behinderung und psychische Krankheit im zeitgenössischen deutschen Spielfilm. Eine vergleichende Filmanalyse.“ ist Ende 2014 bei Königshausen & Neumann erschienen.

Ich referiere auf nationalen und internationalen Veranstaltungen und Konferenzen. Als Forscherin mit Behinderung arbeite ich u.a. zu unterschiedlichen Aspekten von Behinderung im Film, Disability Studies, Gender und Inklusion auf Augenhöhe. Zu meinen jüngsten Veröffentlichungen zählen die Beiträge „Challenging Devaluation of Disability and Queerness through Cinematic Narratives“ in der Zeitschrift „Including Disability“ sowie „Tarnation und Requiem revisited. Filmische Darstellungen von psychischer Gesundheit aus Sicht der Disability Studies“ im von Tobias Dietrich und Winfried Pauleit herausgegebenen Sammelband „Kopf/Kino. Psychische Erkrankung und Film“. Weitere Veröffentlichungen sind beispielsweise die Beiträge „Welcome to the Freakhouse? Disability bei Wim Wenders“ im von Jörn Glasenapp herausgegebenen Sammelband „Kontinuität im Wandel. Begegnungen mit dem Filmemacher Wim Wenders“ oder „The Disability Tax and the Accessibility Tax: The Extra Intellectual, Emotional, and Technological Labor and Financial Expenditures Required of Disabled People in a World Gone Wrong…and Mostly Online„, zusammen mit Sara H. Olsen, Stephanie J. Cork, Ron Padrón, Alexandra Peterson, Amanda Strausser und Paul T. Jaeger, in der Zeitschrift „Including Disability“. Für 2024 sind weitere Veröffentlichungen in Vorbereitung.

Mir liegt daran, dass Unterschiede zwischen den Menschen nicht nur erkannt, sondern auch anerkannt werden.

I am a research assistant at the University of Bamberg. Since 2022, I have been appointed to the jury of the Grimme-Preis. I am also a founding member and editorial board member of the journal ‚Including Disability‚ an open-access online journal which was launched in April 2022, and act as consultant for film productions on the subject of cinematic representation of disability.

I obtained my Magister in Applied Cultural Studies at the University of Lüneburg, before completing my doctoral degree at the Leuphana University Lüneburg (doctoral supervisor: Prof. Dr. Sven Kramer). My dissertation, entitled ‚Behinderung und psychische Krankheit im zeitgenössischen deutschen Spielfilm. Eine vergleichende Filmanalyse‘ [Disability and Mental Health in Contemporary German Film. A Comparative Film Analysis.], was published with Königshausen & Neumann in 2014.

I give papers, presentations and talks at national and international events and conferences. As an academic with disabilities, I focus on different aspects of the representation of disability in film as well as disability studies, gender and inclusion. My research draws on my belief that differences between people should not only be recognized, but accepted.
